Obituary for Frankie Nell Coleman Chastain

Frankie Nell Coleman Chastain, age 80, of Murphy, NC passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Erlanger Medical Center.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC. Frankie was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice Dorothy Grace Coleman. She retired from the Cherokee County School System as a cafeteria manager at the Martins Creek School after 25 years of service. Frankie also worked at Truett Camp for over 30 years. She was very active in the Martins Creek Community Center. Frankie loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and canning. Frankie was a member of the New Martins Creek Baptist Church where she was a former choir member and was involved in Vacation Bible School.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Chastain; sons Kenneth Chastain and Charles Chastain; two half-brothers, Julius Coleman and Marshall Coleman; sister, Juanita Barnett; two half-sisters, Jean Waring and Kitty Donaldson; daughter-in-law, Wanda Chastain and son-in-law, Tim Roberson.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Chastain of Jackson, SC and Tim Chastain and wife Michelle of Murphy; two daughters, Sandra Walls and husband Lewis of Hayesville and Sharon Roberson of Murphy; two brothers, Donald Coleman of Murphy and Steve Coleman of Marietta, GA; one sister, Nina Chastain and husband Phillip of Murphy; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the New Martins Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Paul Ray Morgan, Rev. Aud Brown and Rev. Ronnie Palmer will officiate. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and other family members.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the New Martins Creek Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the New Martins Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 2729 Hedden Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
