Marvin Moss, age 80, of Marble, NC passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at his residence.
He was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late Grover and Mary Carringer Moss. Marvin had retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation as an equipment operator after 26 years of service. He was a member and Deacon of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Marble, NC. Marvin was also a member of the Marble Springs Lodge #439 A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Lovingood Moss; three sons, Tim and wife Debbie of Jasper, GA, Todd and wife Lydia and Shylan and wife Lisa all of Murphy, NC; two brothers, Hollis Moss and James Moss both of the Peachtree community; and six grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Marble, NC. Rev. Randall Moss and Rev. Paul Ray Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in the Moss Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Perkins, Cecil Lovingood, Paul Moss, Virgil Radford, Joey Lewis, Phillip Chastain, Wilton Easley and Malcolm Hogsed. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jamie Smith, Harold Johnson and Robert Pace.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 12-2 PM at the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church, 50 Allman Street, Marble, NC 28905.
