Robert Frank Dockery, age 92 of Murphy, NC passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Jonathan and Cora Franklin Dockery. Robert was a US Army veteran. He was a small engine mechanic. Robert enjoyed coon hunting and was an avid gardener. While in the Army, he worked on helicoptors and vehicles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his wife Christine. He was also preceeded by his daughter, Janet Tanner, three brothers, Steve, Albert, and Roy Dockery, and two sisters, Lena Owens and Ethel Hillard.
Robert is survived by two daughters: Kathy Rankin and husband Ted, and Tracie Thomas. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 4pm, Friday, June 4 2021, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Harold Stiles will officiate. Pall bearers will be Ted Rankin, Alex Crosby, Gene Garrison, Michael Morrow and Joshua Garrett. Burial will be in Moss Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the American Legion Post #96 Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville, NC and the Marine Corp League Marble, NC on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 12 pm.
The family will recieve friends from 2-4 pm on Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
