With great sadness, we share the passing of Jim Barone, age 71 of Culberson/Murphy, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
He was born and raised in Tuxedo NY, Jim retired from the DoD at West Point and moved to Murphy in 2012, where he temporarily unretired and worked at Murphy Health and Fitness for eight years. He made many friends in Murphy and loved his home, property, mountains and lakes and life in the region.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Lussier Barone; daughter, Erin and granddaughter Mattie of NC, Lauren of NJ; stepdaughter, Robin of Los Angeles, two brothers, Russ and Ray two sisters, Joan and Laureen and many nieces and nephews.
A veteran of the Vietnam era, he served proudly in the 82nd Airborne division. He loved golf, fishing, the comradery of the many friendships he made here in Murphy, and our two beloved dogs who predeceased him.
He will be missed by all who had the good fortune to have known him and called him their friend.
If you would like to remember Jim, a donation to the Valley River Humane Society in his name would have made him smile.
