Jean Keiper Roberts, 91, left her Murphy, NC home for heaven on Thursday, August 31, 2023, after a struggle with dementia and melanoma. She departed this world with both daughters and sons-in-law at her bedside and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. She was also greeted by her husband of 53 years, Jacob “Bob” Keiper, her husband of 7 years, Jesse Roberts, and her parents, Harry and Violet Lenore (Whitmer) Rohrer.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Post (Chris) and Kimberly Wolff Coker (Chris), all of Murphy, North Carolina; one son, Keith Keiper of Haines City, Florida; and a sister, Fran Seay of Cartersville, Georgia. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Kristi and Andrea (Post), David (Wolff), Janna,
Nicki, CJ, Priscilla and Austin (Keiper), several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, and lived for many years in central Florida before moving to Murphy, North Carolina in 2005. For most of her life, she was active in the churches she attended, doing everything from singing in the choir to teaching Sunday school to serving on the church board, and has been a member of First Baptist Church since moving to Murphy. Her hobbies included playing the
accordion, sewing, crocheting, playing word games and entertaining friends and family for meals. She had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. Anyone blessed enough to have known Jean will miss her sweetness, compassion, kindness and servant’s heart.
A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church of Murphy, 517 Hiwassee Street, Murphy, NC, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Pastor Jimmy Tanner will officiate.
