Obituary for Carl Lloyd Swanson

Carl Lloyd Swanson, age 82 of Murphy, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

Carl was born in Murphy to the late Archie and Dolly Dye Swanson. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Carl was an exceptional member of Ranger Community and a deacon of Ranger Baptist Church for many years. He was a certified auto mechanic by trade for over 40 years. Carl had his own service station in Murphy on Hill Street for many years. He built his own shop but later retired in 1999 due to health reasons.

Carl had a beautiful soul, loved his Lord and his family was his life. He had smiles for everyone. Carl loved visiting his friends, talking with them and witnessing about God to all.

Carl loved nature; he loved yard work in his own yard, fishing and animals. He enjoyed gold panning and also had an impeccable sweet tooth.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Howard Mose Hickman; a niece, Jackie Teague; and his in-laws, Lon and Rozella Chastain.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Regina Rose Swanson; a son, Curtis Swanson; a daughter, Amanda Swanson (Jamaahl); his grandson, Justin Swanson (Marissa) an his sons Ryker and Ryan, and Brandon Blundell (Catherine) and their 3 children; his sister in laws, Nancy Woodard (Alan) and Beverly Chastain; a goddaughter, Gail Tinney; and several nieces and nephews.

"We had 52 years of the deepest love. He gave me the experience of being loved and understood completely. Truly supported and loved me. I will carry that with me always. Carl's memory will remain in our hearts until we meet again. Love and miss you forever."

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Rev. Alan Harris and Pastor Kenny Corn officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy prior to the funeral service.
