Obituary for Tony Emerson Cox

Tony Emerson Cox, 74, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at his home in Greenville, SC after a short illness.

He was the first New Year’s Eve baby in Buncombe County in 1941.

He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio.

He was the oldest son of the late Woodrow Cox and Virginia Cox of Andrews, NC.

Tony began his life’s ventures by attending Western Carolina University. Then later he started working with his father’s business who was a Distributor of Tom’s Food products (Snack food). Then later he moved to Dayton, Ohio and started his own venture with Tom’s Foods and he did that for 27 years. Then later moved to Charleston, SC and started another Vending Company for many years. Then Hurricane Katrina hit and destroyed his business. Then he moved to Greenville and started Specialty Trux Company, specializing in custom trucks for the vending industry until his death.

Tony enjoyed his time with his daughter, grandchildren, family and friends, and he was an avid fan of NHRA and NASCAR racing and enjoyed traveling and enjoying his semi-retirement.

Tony was loved by all who had the honor and privilege to know him. He was a kind, thoughtful, generous, funny, and wise and loving human being as well as son, brother, father, grandfather, friend, husband, employer and community member. He will be greatly and sorely missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 4 PM, Saturday, October 17th, 2015 at the Andrews First Baptist Church, 1606 Business Highway 19, Andrews, NC. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Andrews First Baptist Church, c/o Sound Room, P.O. Box 427, Andrews, NC.

Tony is survived by his mother, Virginia Cox; his brother, Jerry Cox; his daughter, Susanne Cox of Columbus, Ohio and two grandchildren, Brady and Courtney Chabot.
