Velma Graves Thomas Sprinkles, age 83 of Murphy, NC passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 at North East Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC; daughter of the late J. Edgar and Asalee Dockery Graves. Velma was a bookkeeper for Great Northern Construction in Gwinnett County, GA. She enjoyed the computer, bowling, reading and spending time with her family. Velma attended Grandview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Bill Thomas and Floyd Sprinkles and three brothers, Ralph Graves, Burton Graves and Herbert Graves.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Coleman; two sons, Kenneth Thomas of Murphy, NC and Joel Thomas and wife Dee Dee of Dacula, GA; one sister, Alice "Sue" Lambert of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Albert Graves and wife Gertrude of Murphy, NC and Alvin "Jim" Graves and wife Dee of Atwater, Ohio; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy, NC. Rev. Edward Carter and Rev. Jeremy Hall will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tom Graves, Morris Graves, Bryan Graves, Matt Lambert, Bob Graves, Brett Thomas and David Lovingood. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Coleman, Brett Thomas and Cory Lovingood.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM, Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1604 Ebenezer Road, Murphy, NC 28906 or to your favorite charity.
